Metrodome acquire rights to 'SÉRAPHINE'

Metrodome has negotiated a multi-territory deal which will see Metrodome acquire full UK & Eire rights to SÉRAPHINE, while Rialto Distribution take New Zealand and Australian rights. The deal was brokered between CEO Peter Urie, General Manager Distribution Sara Frain and Head of Acquisitions James Brown for Metrodome, and by Yohann Comte for Roissy Films

Based on the life of the troubled yet hugely talented French artist Séraphine Louis. In 1912, Séraphine works as a maid for Madame Duphot, while in her spare time paints with anything that comes to hand – mud, wine, fruit & flowers mixture. When art critic and dealer Wilhelm Uhde spots one of her canvases, he is amazed to discover it is the work of the young maid. But as Séraphine’s work gains exposure around the world, the increasing grace of her work leads her to descend into the realms of madness.

Sara Frain of Metrodome says:

“Séraphine is French filmmaking at its best. Yolande Moreau’s central performance is sure to touch the hearts of the UK public and help to bring her work back into the country’s consciousness. We are delighted to be working with Roissy Films and partnering once again with Rialto, who are an outstanding partner in Australia.”

Yohann Comte of Roissy Films says:

“Metrodome has been tracking the project since the very beginning and their enthusiasm after the screening confirmed to us that they were the perfect distributor for the film. We are delighted to work with an ambitious and passionate distributor who has the means to turn a high-profile arthouse film like Séraphine into a commercial success.”

Kelly Rogers of Rialto says:

“We’re thrilled to be involved working with Metrodome and Roissy on this superb film with a heart of gold, harking back to the days when arthouse meant sunshine and roses with a good tug at the heart-strings!”

Metrodome plan to release the film in the summer of 2009.
